US deserters flee to Canada to avoid service in IraqAn estimated 5,500 men and women have deserted since the invasion of Iraq, reflecting Washington's growing problems with troop morale.Being in a war for bogus reasons, and having a commander in chief who seems to be channeling a weird Christian version of Caligula a bit (without the sex) is probably also bad for morale.
Best wishes to all of these young men and women... whether in Canada or sticking it out and fighting for our country in Iraq. It is sad our country didn't meet its obligation of making sure they were fighting for a real reason.
